About This Project
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most important books ever written. For thousands of years, it has guided people through difficult decisions, taught them about courage, and helped them understand the meaning of life.
But most translations are written for adults. The Sanskrit is beautiful but mysterious. The philosophy is deep but dense. We wanted to change that.
What makes this different
- Every single verse — not a summary, but the complete Gita, chapter by chapter.
- Word by word — each Sanskrit word is broken down to its root (dhatu), so you learn the language as you read.
- A story for every verse — parables from Indian tradition and original stories that make the teaching come alive.
- Beautiful illustrations — Indian folk art fusion inspired by Madhubani, Pichwai, Pattachitra, Warli, and Kalamkari traditions.
- Built for curious minds — written for children aged 8 to 12, but honestly, it's for anyone encountering the Gita for the first time.
How to use this site
Start with Chapter 1 and read one verse at a time. Don't rush — each verse has a story and a question to think about. Hover over highlighted words to see their meanings, or visit the Glossary for the full list.
You can also print the entire book using your browser's print function on the print page — it's formatted as a beautiful, illustrated book.
The illustrations
Each chapter features a different style of Indian folk art. Chapter 1 uses Madhubani (from Bihar), Chapter 2 uses Gond (from Madhya Pradesh), Chapter 3 uses Pattachitra (from Odisha), and so on. The illustrations capture the emotional heart of each verse — not just what happens, but what it feels like.
